There is nothing more perfectly satisfying in this world then a brilliantly designed, quintessential Nantucket beach house. When you think of a beach house, what for you comes to mind? For me, it is a all white space, textured walls, wood floors that lend themselves to age and character, comfortable furniture, views that would blow your mind, and the icing on the cake……. of course, a black and white palette. So it is no doubt that this gem of a place caught my eye last week on La Dolce Vita, so much so I just had to share it with you my readers. The designer in house is Jeffrey Alan Marks. You might recognize Jeffrey from the show Million Dollar Decorator, (he is not hard to look at). Although his entire portfolio is beyond impressive, it was this little gem that truly caught my eye.
Have a look.
You just know your off to a good start when you walk through the door and see a vintage canoe as part of the decor! The fact that the decor isn’t over done speaks volumes about this designer. The pieces that exist through out are a great nod to the beach and times gone by, but it is not kitschy in any way. How about those director chairs? I have always loved them, but done in that fabulous fabric just takes them to a whole other level. Of course there is the layered rugs, sisal screams “I live at the beach”, and the carpets on top inject fun and pattern. All in all this house is a win win for moi, and Jeffrey Sir, you are one hell of a ” Wicked Designer”!
